The Bar Kits · Level 2 — The Same Four, Traded Up

The Intermediate Bar Kit

The same four categories, traded up — and still not a household name among them. A cult Jamaican overproof, a rye finished in Grenache wine casks, a small-batch potato vodka and an artisanal Jalisco reposado. Every one is good enough to drink neat, and not one is sitting on a supermarket shelf somewhere cheaper.

Every piece, and why it's in the box.

Nothing in here is filler. Each one was picked by the people who stock our shelves, for a reason you can taste.

The RumRum Fire Jamaican White Overproof Rum 750ml

Rum Fire Jamaican White Overproof Rum 750ml

$37.99 on its own

From Hampden Estate, a Trelawny distillery with a cult following among bartenders for its enormous, funky Jamaican character. Unaged and overproof — one of the most distinctive spirits in the whole shop.

Tastes like
Overripe banana, varnish, olive brine, tropical funk.
Its job
Daiquiri, Ti' Punch, or a very small pour with lime.
The WhiskeySavage & Cooke Grenache Cask Rye Whiskey 750ml

Savage & Cooke Grenache Cask Rye Whiskey 750ml

$49.99 on its own

A rye finished in Grenache wine casks from a small distillery on Mare Island, California. Wine-cask finishes normally carry a heavy premium; this one doesn't, because there's no big name on the front.

Tastes like
Red fruit, baking spice, dark caramel, a warm peppery finish.
Its job
Old Fashioned, Whiskey Sour, or neat.
The VodkaSalted Potato Vodka 950ml

Salted Potato Vodka 950ml

$29.99 on its own

Potato vodka made in small batches — heavier and creamier in texture than the grain vodkas the big brands sell. At this level a vodka should bring something to the glass, and texture is what this one brings.

Tastes like
Creamy, faintly earthy, a soft rounded finish.
Its job
A Martini, or straight from the freezer.
The TequilaArette Artesanal Suave Reposado Tequila 700ml

Arette Artesanal Suave Reposado Tequila 700ml

$64.99 on its own

From a small family distillery in the town of Tequila that still works traditionally — brick ovens, no diffuser, no additives. This is what reposado tastes like when nobody is optimising it for a mass palate.

Tastes like
Cooked agave, vanilla, gentle oak, a clean finish.
Its job
Neat, or in a Tommy's Margarita.

Hand-picked from what's on our shelves right now. If something sells through we swap in an equal-or-better bottle and tell you before it ships.

The difference isn't technique. It's the bottle.
The story

The difference isn't technique. It's the bottle.

Once you can make a sour and an Old Fashioned, the next jump in quality has almost nothing to do with your skill. A cocktail is mostly spirit, and no amount of careful shaking rescues a base that was built to disappear into a mixer.

So this kit keeps the same four categories and trades every one of them up — without reaching for a bigger brand. The rum is Jamaican overproof from a distillery with a cult following among bartenders. The whiskey is a rye finished in Grenache wine casks, a treatment that normally carries a heavy premium and doesn't here because the distillery is small and Californian. The tequila is artisanal Jalisco, made in a tiny operation that still uses traditional methods. The vodka is potato-based and made in small batches.

The test is simple: pour an inch of each, neat, before you mix anything. All four should be worth drinking that way. That is the whole standard.

  • 0big brands, again
  • 63%ABV on the Jamaican overproof
  • 4 / 4bottles worth drinking neat
The maths

Cheaper than the same bottles, one at a time.

No mystery discount. Here's exactly what each item costs on our shelf today, and what the bundle costs instead.

Someone already chose

The hard part of a bottle shop is the wall of labels. This is one decision instead of four, made by people who taste this stuff for a living.

It costs less than the parts

Every bundle is priced under the sum of its bottles at today's shelf price. The receipt on the left is the whole argument.

It gives well

A single bottle is a nice gesture. A themed set with the story of each bottle is a present — and it arrives ready to hand over.

One delivery, one signature

Local delivery or in-store pickup, all of it in one box. Someone 21+ signs once and you're done.

Put it to work

Four bottles, four upgrades.

Do this first

An inch of each, neat

Before you mix anything, pour a small measure of all four and taste them side by side. This is the difference you paid for.

If a bottle isn't worth drinking neat, it shouldn't be your base spirit.
Whiskey

The Old Fashioned

2 oz rye, a bar spoon of syrup, two dashes of bitters. Stir over one big cube, orange peel.

The Grenache cask gives it a red-fruit lift most ryes don't have.
Rum

The Rum Old Fashioned

Same build, swapping in the twelve-year rum. Demerara syrup if you have it.

Aged rum takes to stirring far better than most people expect.
Tequila

Tommy's Margarita

2 oz reposado, 1 oz lime, 0.5 oz agave. No triple sec — let the tequila show.

Shaking a sipping reposado is an extravagance. Do it once anyway.

Questions, answered.

How does delivery work?

We deliver locally and offer in-store pickup — the options you'll see at checkout depend on your address. As a New York package store we can't ship out of state, so delivery is limited to where we're licensed.

Do I have to be 21?

Yes. You must be 21 or older to buy, and an adult signature (21+) is required at delivery.

What if one of the bottles is out of stock?

Bundles are built from live shelf stock, so the page will stop you before that happens. If something sells through between your order and packing, we substitute an equal-or-better bottle from the same country or category and email you first — or refund that portion if you'd rather.

Can I swap a bottle?

Tell us in the order notes and we'll do our best. The bundle price is built around the specific lineup, so a swap needs to be a like-for-like from the same country or category.

Can I send it as a gift?

Yes — check out to your recipient's address inside our delivery area. Whoever accepts the delivery has to be 21+ with ID. Add a note at checkout and we'll include a card.

Is this a subscription?

No. Bundles are a one-time purchase. If you want a new one every month, that's what the Wine Club and the Craft Bartending Kit club are for.
