Portugal in Four Bottles

The value country of the decade, and the one almost nobody shops. Grapes with names you can't pronounce, grown nowhere else on earth, made by families who never got the shelf space — and still priced like a secret. An eleven-dollar Vinho Verde, a Dão white, and two from the Douro.

What's in the bundle

Every bottle, and why it made the cut.

Nothing in here is filler. Each one was picked by the people who stock our shelves, for a reason you can taste.

The EverydayAveleda Vinho Verde Fonte 750ml

Aveleda Vinho Verde Fonte 750ml

$10.99 on its own

Eleven dollars, barely 10% alcohol, with a faint spritz. Aveleda have been farming the Minho since 1870 and this is the bottle that made Vinho Verde famous — the definition of a wine for the fridge, not the cellar.

Tastes like
Green apple, lime, white flowers, a faint prickle.
Drink it with
Grilled fish, a hot afternoon, salted crisps.
The DãoBroadbent Dao White 750ml

Broadbent Dao White 750ml

$14.99 on its own

The Dão is Portugal's cool high plateau and Encruzado is its great white grape — the one people compare to white Burgundy when they want to sound clever. Fifteen dollars.

Tastes like
White peach, citrus, a stony mineral edge, real texture.
Drink it with
Roast pork, chicken, richer fish.
The Douro WhiteQuinta Do Zimbro Douro Branco 750ml

Quinta Do Zimbro Douro Branco 750ml

$24.99 on its own

Everyone knows the Douro for Port. Its dry whites, grown high on the same terraced schist, are the region's best-kept secret and the reason this box leans white.

Tastes like
Citrus, orchard fruit, saline minerality, taut acidity.
Drink it with
Clams, prawns, anything from the sea.
The RedQuinta Do Zimbro Douro Reserva Tinto 750ml

Quinta Do Zimbro Douro Reserva Tinto 750ml

$24.99 on its own

Touriga Nacional and friends off old vines on the schist terraces — the same fruit that would otherwise have gone into Port, made dry. Dark, structured and built for cold weather.

Tastes like
Blackberry, dried fig, violet, firm tannin.
Drink it with
Stews, slow-cooked meat, hard cheese.

Hand-picked from what's on our shelves right now. If something sells through we swap in an equal-or-better bottle and tell you before it ships.

Portugal is what Spain was twenty years ago.
The story

Portugal is what Spain was twenty years ago.

Portugal has around 250 native grape varieties and grows almost nothing else. No Chardonnay to fall back on, no Cabernet to reassure anyone — just Loureiro, Encruzado, Touriga Nacional and a couple of hundred others that exist nowhere else on the planet.

For decades that was a commercial problem: unpronounceable grapes from unfamiliar regions don't sell themselves, so the wine stayed cheap. In the last few years it has flipped into the best value in Europe, and 2026 is the year the trade caught on — the money has moved past Vinho Verde and into the Dão and the Douro, where the whites in particular are absurd for the price.

This box is deliberately three whites and one red, because that is genuinely where Portugal is strongest right now. Buy it before the rest of the market works it out.

The maths

Cheaper than the same bottles, one at a time.

No mystery discount. Here's exactly what each item costs on our shelf today, and what the bundle costs instead.

Someone already chose

The hard part of a bottle shop is the wall of labels. This is one decision instead of four, made by people who taste this stuff for a living.

It costs less than the parts

Every bundle is priced under the sum of its bottles at today's shelf price. The receipt on the left is the whole argument.

It gives well

A single bottle is a nice gesture. A themed set with the story of each bottle is a present — and it arrives ready to hand over.

One delivery, one signature

Local delivery or in-store pickup, all of it in one box. Someone 21+ signs once and you're done.

Put it to work

Four bottles, four nights.

The hot afternoon

Vinho Verde, straight from the fridge

Barely 10% alcohol with a faint prickle of spritz. Drink it cold, in a big glass, with grilled sardines or salted crisps.

The cheapest bottle in the box and often the one people ask about.
Dinner

Dão white and roast pork

Encruzado has real texture — enough weight for pork, roast chicken or a rich fish.

Don't over-chill it or you'll lose the body.
Something better

Douro Branco and shellfish

Douro whites are grown at altitude and keep their acidity. Clams, prawns, anything from the sea.

The bottle to open when someone says they don't like Portuguese wine.
Cold weather

Douro Reserva and a stew

Touriga Nacional with dark fruit and grip — built for slow-cooked meat and a cold night.

Open it an hour before you drink it.

Questions, answered.

How does delivery work?

We deliver locally and offer in-store pickup — the options you'll see at checkout depend on your address. As a New York package store we can't ship out of state, so delivery is limited to where we're licensed.

Do I have to be 21?

Yes. You must be 21 or older to buy, and an adult signature (21+) is required at delivery.

What if one of the bottles is out of stock?

Bundles are built from live shelf stock, so the page will stop you before that happens. If something sells through between your order and packing, we substitute an equal-or-better bottle from the same country or category and email you first — or refund that portion if you'd rather.

Can I swap a bottle?

Tell us in the order notes and we'll do our best. The bundle price is built around the specific lineup, so a swap needs to be a like-for-like from the same country or category.

Can I send it as a gift?

Yes — check out to your recipient's address inside our delivery area. Whoever accepts the delivery has to be 21+ with ID. Add a note at checkout and we'll include a card.

Is this a subscription?

No. Bundles are a one-time purchase. If you want a new one every month, that's what the Wine Club and the Craft Bartending Kit club are for.
