Basil Hayden's is the gentle, high-rye member of Jim Beam's small-batch family, created by Booker Noe in 1992 and named for an 18th-century distiller who pioneered a rye-forward mash bill in Kentucky. With roughly twice the rye of a typical bourbon (the same recipe as Old Grand-Dad), it leans spicy and light-bodied rather than heavy.
